Heaven Is a Halfpipe

{Shirt: Chaser LA | Shorts: True Religion DIY | Sandals: Salt Water | Fanny pack: Forever 21 (gift) | Watch: Nordstrom | Sunglasses: Juicy Couture}

And today is the day I looked like a 13-year-old boy. Seriously, with my middle-parted newly-short beach hair, this oversized top, and the long shorts, I felt like I should be skateboarding with a bunch of prepubescent ne'er-do-wells.

I love this shirt because 1) it is tie-dyed 2) the dancing Grateful Dead bears have always reminded me of Hawaii. When I was little, my parents and I would go to Maui every summer, and always have yummy breakfast at Stella Blues, Jerry Garcia's restaurant. We weren't on Maui this time, but I thought the dancing bears deserved a vacay, too.

This shirt does, however, have quite an oversized and boxy fit, so I think it needs to be paired with something like a pair of high-waisted vintage cut-off shorts - you know, like the kind the new pseudo-indie girls spend their days pulling out of their rear-ends. How would you style this tee?

  1. I'm jealous of your location. Psh, you look like a very adorable prepubescent boy! I love the tee. I've spent way too many hours trying to find amazing vintage rock n' roll tees in thrift stores. I'd probably pair it with (as you said) some high waisted shorts, or maybe even some short shorts and boots possibly. You really can do no wrong if a vintage rock tee is in the mix.

  2. I think you look super cute! :D You just made me want it to be 80 degrees outside. Or move to a more tropical location. haha!

  3. For real, HOW do they deal with such tight shorts? It's too much trouble. Plus, how do they sit in them? Whatever, you look good!

  4. I think I would style it by tucking into a cotton skirt (maxi or mini) and throwing on a cardigan to add some shape to it since it has an "oversized boxy fit" or else tie a little knot in it and pair witha skirt or leather shorts.

    Either way its fun. :)
