Winter Chill

{Sweater: kensie via Nordstrom | Jeans: William Rast | Boots and Necklace: F21}

 Sayonara, Southern California 80-degree winter, and a hearty goodbye to most of my wardrobe for the next 30 days! I spent my final day prior to my first 30 for 30 bundled up in this cozy Nordic print shawl sweater, and I must say I was very comfy! I also must say, taking pictures 30 minutes after you wake up is eye-opening, to say the very least! Yikes.

Peanut shells

{Top: Phanuel via ANGL | Jeans: William Rast | Boots: Steve Madden | Earrings & Ring: F21 | Bracelet: Cheers}

Last night, I went to a little engagement party/bridesmaid-groomsmen meet & greet soiree for my friend's wedding that I'll be in this October. Sure, I was slightly overdressed for a place that has peanut shells on the floor, but what the hay. For once, I actually got to wear heels! Perhaps you've noticed, heels for me are reserved solely for weekend outings - it's hard to pick up screaming 3-year-olds when you're wearing heels. I love these ones with their big built-in wedge. Sure, they make my small feet look like hooves, but I love them anyway. My best friend Holly got me this shirt for the holidays, and I love it! It's polka dotted, it's lace, and it has a fun button detail down the back - what more could I ask for?

This giant, sparkly, stretchy cuff was a recent gift from my wonderful coworker Laura! She surprised me on Friday with it, kind of a "thanks for being you" gift - and what a lovely one to receive! She got it at a boutique, and the company that makes it - "CHEERS" - makes "Everything for Celebrating." Check out their website for lots of fun goodies!

One more outfit to go before the 30 for 30 commences! How exciting!

My 30 for 30 picks!

After careful scrutiny, and repeatedly reminding myself that my closet won't be off-limits for the rest of my life, I have decided on the 30 items for my very first 30 for 30 Remix!

Now, with the help of my ever-so-wonderful B. Jones Stylit, I can get to work on planning my outfit remixes for the month!

Copycat

{Tank: h.i.p. via Nordstrom | Shirt: Sex and the City by Public Library | Leggings: Target | Flats: Blowfish via Century 21 | Bows: Playette via Target}

So many things to discuss in this post! Time for a numbered list:

1. There is little in this world that bothers me more than copying... I know that sounds like something a 9-year-old might say, but I can't deny it: I hate to be copied, especially when it comes to clothing. I must admit, I did something today completely against my nature: To almost a T, I totally copied the outfit my coworker and sister from another mister Jodi wore on Wednesday. We have the same silky tank (I copied her on that one a few months ago), I improvised with what t-shirt I had, and I substituted her amazing Joe's jeggings with an obviously more expensive and luxurious legging from Target. I have to admit - copying makes things easy, but I hope that trait doesn't stick!

2. This t-shirt makes me laugh. I've actually never worn it, but since I don't own any plain black crew neck Ts, and this was one of the only black shirts I have in which the design didn't stick out the top of my tank, today was the day. It also happens to coincide with Beth's week of Carrie inspiration, in a far more literal way, of course. And yes, I am a Carrie - except in the 2nd movie, in which I pretty much hate her.

3. I love leopard print!

4. Yes, that is my head stuck under a lamp in order to get the proper lighting to showcase the patterns on my bows.

5. I'm still trucking (and struggling!) on putting together my items for my first 30x30. I will post them when I finally come to that decision - which I hope happens soon!

The End.

Terra Cotta

{Sweater: Lush via Nordstrom | Shirt: Ann Taylor | Pants: bdg via Urban outfitters | Shoes: Minnetonka}

I'm going to ignore the fact that half of my coworkers made fun of me for wearing a furry tube scarf + a winter coat this morning. I'm sorry, but it's 50 degrees when I wake up - to me, that's cold!

Anyway... I like this sweater because it's a fairly unusual color that reminds me of Crayola's famed Burnt Sienna crayon. I also like it because it matches my house. I like this shirt because it is comprised of 2 of my favorite things - leopard and sequins. I like these shoes because I love anything and everything related to feathers and Native Americans.

In other news, I'm having such a hard time picking out my items for the 30x30! I spent a good portion of my Saturday night weighing the pros and cons of most pieces in my wardrobe, and had settled on a solid thirty. (I know, I need a life.) A few days later, and I've got a whole separate list of pieces I desperately want to work into the 30x30! I guess I need to spend a few more hours on this. That said, I can't wait for February 1st!

Pajama Jam

{Sweater: Nordstrom | Shorts: Mom | Sandals: Steve Madden | Necklace: F21 | Earrings: Betsey Johnson}

As I may have mentioned 45 times already, I love clothes that feel like pajamas. So, I stole these shorts from my mom - and it just so happens that they used to be her pajamas. I think they're fun and fabulous. They're actually even a little greener in person. I'm even considering adding these in to my 30 for 30 pieces because they're so comfortable, easy, bright, and FUN! And to think, I lasted three hours at work before getting blue paint on my white sweater.

I got this necklace in cheapville for, well, cheap. I figured these Betsey earrings that Karla gave me for my birthday last year were a nice compliment to the cheetah/leopard/jaguar (who knows?) face I had hanging around my neck.

And she'll have fun fun fun till her Mommy takes her PJs awayyyy...

P.S. How fun was it to peek at everyone's stylish stripes yesterday? If you haven't already, check out Everybody, Everywhere - so fun to peruse!

Everybody, Everywhere...

{Sweater: H&M | Pants: bdg via Urban Outfitters | Boots: Steve Madden | Jewelry: Nordstrom bp, Old Navy, & Luna B}

Today I got to participate in a fun project! Please click the button at the bottom of this post to visit Everybody, Everywhere - a great idea in which bloggers everywhere wear the same trend on the same day! January 25 was Breton stripes day! I love this oversize sweater - it fits in perfectly with and puts a twist on my ever-growing collection of stripes! I've had these boots for over a year now, and I have to say they're always the perfect pair to toughen up any outfit in style. I also have an obsession with this new necklace from bp - $8.90 for these fun gems? Now, that's a bargain if I've ever found one - and believe me, I've found many!

Oh, and I guess we bloggers aren't the only ones channeling a day full of stripes...

My mom and some kids at our school seemed to get the memo, too!

Where's Miss Jay when you need him?

{Blouse: American Apparel | Jeans: Seven For All Mankind | Flats: Steve Madden | Ring: Nordstrom bp | Hair clips: ban.do}

I need to learn some new poses in the most serious of ways!

Anyway... I love this shirt. It's the same style in a different print as the flowered blouse I posted a couple weeks ago. It's so comfy, oversized but not unflattering, and just fun and easy to wear! I also love these jeans - I bought them awhile ago, wore them religiously, and like many things in my closet, kind of forgot about them. They're in rare form as they are boyfriend jeans that actually have a fairly slim leg, so they feel comfortable and flattering at once!

As for my accessories, I love them all! I got these shoes last weekend 50% off at the Steve Madden store! Had I more than $8.31 left in my January shopping budget, I would've picked up a pair in black with a snazzy blue zipper on the back as well. My hair clips from ban.do are fantastic. They have a multi-back clip, so they can be worn as a hair clip or a pin on your clothes - I'm sure they will receive many uses over the next month when I do my 30 for 30 Remix!

And to top off my accessories description, let me tell you that when I stumbled through the Nordstrom Juniors department, I was in awe of the amount of accessories they had out, as well as how cheap they were! I picked up some necklaces and a few rings... off the fingers of a precious little boy who had taken, well, every single ring on display (5 per finger, on both hands) into his possession. I felt pretty bad for the sales girls, but come on... it was just so cute.

Accessory overload

I have two wishes:

1. That my Blackberry took clearer pictures.
2. That I had a walk-in closet with amazing built-ins for all of my jewelry a la Rachel Zoe or Carrie Bradshaw.

To summarize, I spent about two hours of my afternoon organizing my jewelry... into all four of my giant jewelry boxes. My upcoming plans to participate in Kendi's 30 for 30 Remix Challenge inspired me to go through my jewelry - because I realized with the limited amount of clothing items I'll be able to wear, I'm really going to need to dig in to the depths of my accessories collection. Next up to be organized? Hats, scarves, belts, and socks/tights... good luck to me!
