With summer lurking in the wings, it's about time to pull my shorts out of hiding - and maybe pull my legs out of hiding, too! Honestly, with the weather being so entirely unpredictable here in Southern California, you never know where the weather is going to take you lately! I tend to automatically associate cutoff jean shorts with casual attire, but there are definitely ways to dress and spruce up a cute pair of shorts, especially this adorable embellished pair from Hot Kiss Denim! First and foremost, I think it goes without saying that cutoff shorts are perfect for festival season! This palm tree-printed pair just scream Coachella! to me! I will keep pretending that Fall is creeping up on us, even though it is still a good 100 degrees outside! Yipes! Either way, somehow someway, the weather is (or will be!) getting cooler, and it's time to transition your wardrobe from summer to fall! I wanted to give you all an idea of how you could take your cutoffs into colder weather! While you've been wearing them with your sandals and tanks for summer, add a pair of tights and some cold-weather accessories like a scarf and booties to a cozy sweater, and you can take those jean shorts right on into winter!

Since I've graduated college, I'm not much of a "theme" dresser, but holidays are special exceptions, especially the 4th of July! As you may have noticed, I am pretty crazy about anything and everything Americana-inspired, and this tee was no exception! I thought it was the perfectly adorable choice for Independence Day! Pairing this printed graphic tee with some casual (but cool) cut-offs and classic Rainbow sandals, but pumping up the volume with this super-rad Flex watch and Popbasic statement necklace, I was ready for a day of sun and fun in Santa Monica!

White Blazers for Summer

I feel like a white blazer just screams summertime! While a blazer can often be taken as business wear, by pairing it with a casual t-shirt, jean cutoffs, and island-y huarache sandals, you can really dress it down and make a blazer wearable for day, or for a fun night out! I happened to wear this out for dinner and drinks with some of my gal pals from grad school, saying sayonara to the school year and hellooooo to summer break!

Summer is vastly approaching! Today is my last night of grad class until August! (Truth be told, it's a pizza party...) I have less than 2 weeks left of the school year at work before I move on to a new adventure! I'm so close to a summer of mini-vacays and lots of concerts! And on top of it all, the weather is slowly creeping up into the 80s... Summer is on the brink!

Oh, man. I am in serious need of a tan. Anyway, I bought this cap awhile ago and have been trying to figure out ways to wear it. I settled on this incredibly casual look for a Sunday brunch out with my dad. I figured... purple and purple, cap covering my dirty hair and casual cutoffs... but I'd love to figure out a way to style this up in a trendier way! Any ideas?

Let me just tell you all: I love a floral print! Let me also tell you: I sometimes have a fear of looking too "girly." So my best bet for incorporating florals into your look without going overboard femme? Add some tougher plaid, some studs, some fringe to balance out the femininity... and/or put your floral print on a more menswear-style cut - like these rad Doc Martens! Remember a few weeks ago when I posted the video of my friend Tommy's Bon Iver cover? Well, he played his first solo show under the name "Tommy Miller & Friends" at the Troubadour in West Hollywood last weekend, and this is what I wore! He was fantastic! He also debuted a new cover he's going to record, and I can't wait to share it with you all when it goes live!
