An Experiment in Extreme Weather Photography (Part II)

{dress: nordstrom - on sale! | necklace: vintage (similar, similar)}
As I mentioned yesterday, it gets supa-dupa windy here in Kihei! Still, I could NOT leave this beautiful ocean view without snapping some photos in front of it! Look at those clouds! That sky! That crystal-clear water! Against this tropical greenery! Heaven on earth, don't you think?

On Friday, I decided to stay out of the sun while my sunburn decided to stay a nice, deep red. Lucky me. Still, we had the pleasure of driving to the local Geste Shrimp truck for a tasty plate lunch… Is yum the word of the week? (Yes!) We at our lunch pier side with some local kittens, pups, and older gents at the Senior Citizens Fishing Club! Some turtles even showed their faces!

{rice, crab mac salad, & yummalicious shrimp!}
Can you tell that our trips center around sunshine and delicious dining? After we recovered from our amazing shrimp lunch, we went to one of our favorite island staples - Shaka Pizza. YUM YUM YUM!

{white spinach, pepperoni, and amazing classic cheese}

{shaka, bra!}

On Sunday night, we had an amaaaazing dinner at Monkeypod, a swanky joint in Wailea. I had some truly delicious and crispy fish & chips (with garlic truffle fries, might I add), and my mom had some heavenly sashimi grade seared ahi with jalapeƱo mashed potatoes! There are no words… And, of course, a perfect Hawaiian meal wouldn't be complete without mai tais...

{they monkeypod mai tai with lilikoi foam… i may have had more than one…}

{as we left the restaurant, we happened upon this unreal sunset.}

A bit more Hawaii to come… Do I really have to leave?!

Lazy Boho

{top: nordstrom (similar) | jeans: delia's (similar) | sandals: shoedazzle (similar) | necklace: luna (similar) (similar)}
I call this look "lazy boho," because that's exactly what it is. All of these items are at least a year old, which is good, considering I start my unpaid student teaching this week and won't be shopping for new pieces for a looooong time... I couldn't decide what to wear out to dinner on Friday, so I put on my lazy-day jeans. I couldn't decide what shoes to pair it with, so I went with this comfy sandal. I couldn't decide what shirt to wear, so I went with this and covered up the hole (yes, there's a big hole under that necklace) with a big ol' chunk of turquoise.

And I call this hairstyle, "I was bored with my middle part, so I attempted to try something new, but looking back at these photos, I will never wear my hair like this again." Ta-da!

Do you have any lazy-day go-to looks?

Camo, Stripes, & Turquoise.

{jacket: nordstrom | tshirt: j. crew | jeans: urban outfitters | boots: target | necklace: luna}

Ahhh, the trifecta of favorites! Camo, stripes, & turquoise... I love them all, and I love them together! Plus, throw in a well-worn (or made to look well-worn haha) pair of jeans and some sweet tapestry boots, and I'm a happy lady! Sometimes, some classic, well-fit pieces and a big ol' statement necklace are all you need!

Style - Coast to Coast: Emerald

Remember last month when Sarah & I introduced our new monthly feature Style - Coast to Coast to you all? Well, we're back in action for March! This month's theme? A little Pantone color of the year/St. Patrick's Day-inspired emerald green!

{shirt: craft fair | tank & watch: nordstrom | leggings: target | boots & socks: hunter | purse: rebecca taylor | necklace: gift | turquoise bracelet: stella & dot | metallic bracelets: derng}
After Sarah & I came up with the bright idea to do emerald for March, I realized... I don't really own any green. You are truly seeing the only two green items I own - my most fabulous rain boots and this bubble necklace my coworker got me! Still, a little bit of green goes a long way!

As I may have mentioned before, I have a bit of a distaste for St. Patrick's Day, for 2 reasons:
1. I don't like holidays that dictate my wardrobe.
2. I hate pinching.

C'est la vie...

{dress & blazer: c/o merci beaucoup | belt: vintage | jewelry: thrifted or gifted | heels: bandolino}

My friend does it again - how fabulous is this look? She is the classy to my sassy! I love the juxtaposition of the delicate, feminine white dress anchored down with a statement belt and structured blazer! I love that we both went with a touch of oxblood - my tank and her pumps! Great minds think alike! Emerald and oxblood create a great color palette that's taken us from fall to winter, and now transitioning into spring!

Head over to Think Twice Style to see what Sarah has to say about her green attire!

How are you going to incorporate green into your St. Patrick's Day attire this weekend?

We'd love for you all to spread the word about Style - Coast to Coast! Pin this image if you'd like to help get our names out there - we'd really appreciate it! :)

Going to the Chapel

{dress: nordstrom | necklace: stitchfix | heels: shoemint | clutch: gift | watch: marc by marc jacobs}
I wore this to the lovely wedding of my beautiful friend Sarah and her now-husband Dan! Talk about the perfect day for a wedding - high 70s in the middle of February! Thank you, Southern California! I had such a fantastic time! Sarah looked stunning, the ceremony was perfect, I got to indulge in a few glasses of wine, and danced the night away with some of my best friends!

Fire Engine Red + Camo

{blouse (gift): nordstrom | pants: tripp nyc | boots: sam edelman | necklace: vintage}
I don't have too much to say about this outfit besides that I threw it together randomly one morning, I love every piece of it, and I love them all together. Also, these Petty boots are the loves of my life, and so is this gorgeous vintage turquoise statement necklace I snagged at the Aloha Swap Meet in Hawaii last year for $15! Score!
