On a recent trip to the mall (I kind of feel like an 11-year-old and/or a Canadian pop star saying I went on a trip to the mall), I kind of fell in love with the Portofino blouses at Express. They were on sale, so it's a wonder I didn't walk off with the entire collection of prints… I settled for a couple (and then a couple more online…), one being this perfect polka dot print! Then I found this denim pencil skirt in my mom's closet (everything old is new again!) and I had the perfect, teacher-y outfit to wear to work!

Sure, this outfit may have looked a little more done-up and body-elongating with a pair of pointy-toed pumps, but you try wearing heels for 7+ hours while trying to corral 32 third graders…

Prep with a Punch

I've been really into preppy style lately. (Peter Pan collars, anyone?) Still, I can't quite bear to abandon the eclectic boho/rocker edge that always creeps its way into my wardrobe! That's why, when I found this perfect striped t-shirt dress, I couldn't resist pairing it with my versatile Petty booties and a rock-inspired statement necklace!

 Classic, relaxed seersucker, an airy white tank, and simple sandals combined with a printed bow cuff scream preppy, but add in a cool leather jacket & gold stud earrings, and you take that look up a notch!

 Pink gingham, you say? A white rope bracelet with an anchor clasp? Prep city! Why not anchor it down with some tough black leather boots and add some rockstar studs to your arm stack?

A peach tweed skirt + a minty cardigan + beautiful polka-dotted bow pumps are all preppy favorites, but add in a spiked statement necklace, and you have definitely upped the funk factor in your ensemble!

Game Time!

I had Spring Break last week. Keep in mind, Spring Break has very little meaning when compared to my Spring Breaks of yore. It's not a wild & crazy binge drinking beach-fest. It's also not like my more recent Spring Breaks, which were a calm and relaxing respite from teaching preschool. This year, it meant guaranteed unpaid days off and attempting to fill them with grown-up fun with my grown-up friends who don't get Spring Break. Shoot.

The highlight of my week was probably going out for drinks and to the Ducks hockey game with some friends. My Rock n Reconstruct dresses make any sporting event extra-fun, and this time was no exception! Plus, I can't complain about a hot dog + beer packaged deal with my seat, either. ;)

P.S. I am off today for a weekend in the desert - my 4th year attending Coachella! I'm so excited! Can't wait to report back to you with all of the fun, and, of course, all of my outfits! As I mentioned recently, I love an outfit that consists entirely of basics. A traditional Breton striped shirt, some comfy jeans, and the perfect bootie make for an easy, yet tailored traditional look. Double Dose of Leopard

One result of my early mornings and late afternoons and evening plans aka my super busy schedule lately? Swiftly (and often poorly) put-together outfits! This was one random 6am idea that I thought turned out well, however! This dress is simple and comfortable, yet flattering, and leopard is my go-to print to pump up any look a little bit. (I added a double dose this time, so what could go wrong?!) Plus, these Sam Edelman Petty boots never cease to amaze me with their adorableness, comfort level, and most importantly, versatility!

When Weekend Society first contacted me to check out their store, I pretty much fell in love immediately! I paired their Republic tank with cutoffs, boots, and plaid flannel when I headed to the Orange County Fair last weekend to see Hunter Hayes! (P.S. Hunter Hayes was almost as adorable as this tank is!)
