Matchy-Matchy

{top: nordstrom (other colors) | pants: ny & co (other colors) (similar) | wedges: toms (similar) | necklace: etsy}

I tend to steer clear of matchy-matchy outfits, but this one kind of happened by accident. I'd been wanting to wear my Toms wedges because all the little girls in my class are obsessed with Toms. (Look at me, still dressing for children...) This top looked way more creamsicle-colored than coral when it was hanging in my closet... and then I stepped into the sunlight and paired it with these shoes! I was concerned with looking like I tried too hard to match, but turns out it was a big hit! A lot of teachers (and students) complimented this outfit. Maybe I need to start color-coordinating more often...

...Nah!

Anti-Pants

{Dress: Modcloth | Wedges: Toms | Necklace: Anthropologie (gift) | Watch: Baton Rouge boutique|

Look! I actually got dressed! I've had an anti-pants mentality all summer, and while that involves not wearing pants at home, when I actually leave the house and need to cover my posterior, I have been going for dresses and skirts whenever possible! This particular scarf-print dress has a seafoam green-esque shade (my favorite) and paired with paisley and peach, I think it's pretty lovely!

By the way, how amazing is this necklace? One of my students (/her mom, since she's 3 years old) gave this to me for my end of the year gift, and I'm obsessed! She definitely gets an A+ in gift-giving! :)

P.S. While one of my blogging besties Sarah is enjoying her lucky little self in Costa Rica, I'm talking concert fashion over on Think Twice Style today! Check it out!

New 'Do.

{Shirt: Foreign Exchange | Cardigan & Pants: Urban Outfitters | Shoes: Toms | Watch: Nordstrom | Scarf | LuluandLoie on Etsy}

I got my hurr did. (Non-Missy Elliot-related translation: I got my hair done.) My awesome stylist gave me a great deal on the Brazilian Blowout & a cut, so I went for it! It pretty much feels softer than anything ever, and I'm excited to see how much styling time I'm able to cut out once I start to work with my curls! Yay!

Also, I threw this outfit together in my head/in my sleep the night before I wore it, and I'd say it's one of my best last-minute idea outfits in awhile! Sometimes, a girl's just got to wear stripes, polka dots, and plaid at once, especially when she works from 7:45am-10:30pm. ZzzZzzZzz...

My grandma's couch.

{Sweatshirt & Jeans : Urban Outfitters | Shoes: Toms | Jacket: Mom's | Flower pin: june.july}
Today, a coworker said that the floral print of my sweatshirt reminded her of something very familiar. I'm sure it was something along the lines of her grandmother's couch. I absolutely love it; it's wildly comfortable, and I was instantly drawn to the vintage feel of the floral. I've been breaking out my Toms lately, as my piggy toes have been chilly in the morning. I can't wait for real boot weather!

Sometimes day looks like night.

{Shirt: Nasty Gal | Jeans: Urban Outfitters | Shoes: Toms | Earrings: JewelMint | Watch: Nordstrom}
These photos were taken at about 7:15am, though I think it looks like they were taken around dawn. Good thing Daylight Savings Time is coming up - my photo lighting needs some help!

I present you with: another big shirt! I've had these pants for almost 2 years now; I was incredibly obsessed when I first spotted them back then, went through a mad frenzy trying to find my size at different stores, wore them nonstop, and haven't worn them as much lately. My job presented us with a "no holes in jeans" rule this year... However, I have apparently decided to buck the rules and go for it. The lace seems like it counteracts the holes anyway.

Sometimes I forget I own things, like these madras Toms. I'm glad that I remembered them today.

Oh, and have you all tried JewelMint yet? It took me almost a full year to commit to buying anything. These earrings are the only piece I ever really went crazy over, and they sold out before I could fully commit. Once they brought them back as a "favorite," I snatched them up pronto!

P.S. Temperatures around here plan to fluctuate between 65 and 85 over the next week. I can't hang. At least, my wardrobe can't. Choose a season and stick to it, mother nature!

Divine!

{Dress: ? | Wedges: Toms | Necklace, Cuff, & Knuckle Ring: Luna | Other rings: Vintage (Aunt's) | Watch: Nordstrom}
This outfit feels kind of perfect for me. Isn't this dress just divine? I was out to lunch/window shopping with my mom and grandma one afternoon, when we passed this dress at some random store. My mom pointed it out, and I immediately got sad because my clothing budget was non-existent at the time. Then, miracle of miracles, my mommy offered to buy it for me! Lucky for her, it was something like $25, and perfect! The fit is exactly right for my body, and the feather print, well, need I say more?

Also, has anyone every tried Toms wedges? They are UNBELIEVABLE. Not only do they look perfectly casual chic, and come in tons of colors/prints, but I've never worn a heel so stinkin' comfortable! I didn't want to take them off at the end of the day!

I also have to point out how much I love Luna's accessory department. Holy guacamole, I find the most marvelous (and relatively inexpensive!) jewelry there - it's the best!

(I'm a bridesmaid in my friend Katelyn's wedding in October, and this is what I wore to the shower that we threw for her.)

May showers

{Sweater: Foreign Exchange | Pants: Urban Outfitters | Shoes: Toms}

I wore this yesterday before our random May showers hit! That's right - it's pouring rain in the OC in the middle of May! In the wise words of Michelle Tanner: "How rude!"

I've had this cardigan for about a year and never worn it - I could never figure out exactly how to style it! I decided that because there's so much adornment and embellishment on it, to just keep everything else neutral and simple, and I think it worked!

Rain, rain, go away. Come again another day - and preferably on a day when I can sleep in, rather than hang out inside for a few hours with a bunch of wild 3-year-olds! Whew!

Call me Mrs. Flinstone...

{Top: F21 | Jeans: dELiA*s | Shoes: Toms | Bow: Boutique | Necklace: Juicy Couture}

So, seriously, do I look like Pebbles or what? I'm finally getting used to the way I look in a top-knot, which is nice. So what's my initial reaction? Toss a child's bow in it and make myself look like a whack job. I wouldn't have it any other way.

I love all of my Toms, and these are quite a special pair. "Chili tie dye" is how they were described when I ordered them, and they make me smile every time I look at them!

Also, these jeans cost $13.95.

And, yes, my necklace does say OMG.

On an exciting note, tomorrow I'm off to...

I am so stoked! There's nothing like a great festival weekend full of sunshine (albeit, excruciating heat), great people, great fashion, and (of course) great bands! I'm DYING to see Bright Eyes and fun., and Lauryn Hill, Brandon Flowers, The Black Keys, Robyn, Erykah Badu, New Pornographers, Mumford & Sons, Arcade Fire, Jimmy Eat World, Neon Trees, and Kanye West, either! I will report back to you all on my awesome experience - and of course, on my outfits! "See" you all next week!

Green Shmeen!

{Shirt: J. Crew | Pants & Necklace: UO | Shoes: Toms}

There are 2 things that I have a strong distaste for:
1. Holidays that dictate my wardrobe choices.
2. Pinching.

Summary: St. Patrick's Day is rude. Hence, my green nails and green clippie. Truth be told, the green nails were not for St. Patrick's Day. They were an experiment in man repelling (see: The Man Repeller) that just happened to coincide with this holiday.

I love love love this "Popsicle Pink" shirt. Inspired by the one and only Kendi Everyday, I had to get this - I kind of want it in the "Creamsicle" color, too, but I suppose one ice cream-inspired button-down is enough for now.

Also, I am a big fan of anything California-related, especially state-shaped items. I have my eye on 2 other state-shaped necklaces. Does one need 3 California-shaped necklaces? No. But I sure do want them.

P.S. I love Toms and I love leopard print. Enough said.
