A Little Spring in My Step

{top: nordstrom (similar) (similar) | skirt: asos (similar) (similar) | wedges: steve madden (similar) (similar) | necklace: ily couture (similar) (similar) (similar) | watch: marc by marc jacobs}
Yes, I'm well aware that summer has come to a close and fall is vastly approaching, but I just can't let go of my whites & pastels! The old "no white after Labor Day" adage has been basically debunked, and I am still going full-throttle on summer whites and beautiful muted shades! I might store these pastels once the 80-degree weather passes here in Southern California, but you can be bet I'm going to be pulling out these icy tints when the winter chill finally makes an appearance!

Here are some more options for incorporating whites and pastels into your wardrobe!

What's your favorite pastel shade? How will you style it in the upcoming seasons?

Friday's Fancies: Work Wear

{watch / bracelet / boots / earrings / skirt / top / tote}
Since starting student teaching, I have come to a few conclusions about my work wear:
1. I feel most "teacher-y" in a pencil skirt!
2. I feel most comfortable throughout the day in boots!
3. There are few accessories more important on a school day than a watch and a roomy carry-all tote!

I have also come to three other important conclusions regarding the above said:
1. It is sort of exhausting to wear pencil skirts everyday.
2. I have already tortured my feet in heels too many times and am filled with regret regarding this decision.
3. These are the only things I never stray from, and the advil, lotion, and hand sanitizer in my purse all thank me for it, along with the 6-year-olds who constantly ask me how many minutes are left till recess.

What's your go-to work wear look?

Road Trippin' in Aeropostale Fall Fashion

{jacket: j. crew | lace top: c/o aeropostale | jeans: justfab | sandals: urban outfitters | necklace: nordstrom}
Another adorable piece from Aeropostale's Fall line! I wore this comfy lace tunic tank for the 7-hour drive with my mom up the state of California for a little vacation in Sonoma County! I have been looking for the perfect lace top for awhile, and I finally found it here at Aero! In a classic color and shape, and paired with neutral staples, this kept me comfy and in style for the long trip, and for a tasty dinner out at Rosso (and ice cream at Lala's) in Petaluma!

Maxi Skirt / Maximum Fun!

{top: forever 21 (similar) | skirt: shop in hawaii (similar) | sandals: urban outfitters | purse: target | necklace: luna (similar)}
I wore this super-comfy summer-friendly ensemble out for my friend Allison's birthday in downtown Huntington! We went all over Main Street in honor of the birthday girl! We indulged in Taco Tuesday at Fred's, had a quick drink at Killarney's, had some pretty (and yummy) Rainbows at Aloha Grill, and then ended our night at Hurricane's with some dancing on their light-up dance floor!

And a good time was had by all! :)

Friday's Fancies: Treat Time! Lime-a-rita!

{earrings / tank / heels / skirt / purse}
This week's Friday's Fancies theme is so fun! The idea? Take your favorite "summertime treat" and create an outfit inspired by it! Since I wasn't quite sure how "hot dog" would translate into fashion, I went with a classic summertime staple: a margarita! Nothing says beat the heat like lime green, bright white, and tropical palm trees!

I'm off to Vegas again this weekend, and I'm planning to rock an outfit just like this tonight, wherever it is we end up dancing the night away! Can't wait to post pictures of my inspiration turned reality!

Dainty Collar

{sweatshirt: forever 21 | shirt (collar): asos | cords: urban outfitters | sneakers: converse | watch: nordstrom}
This dainty little crocheted doily of a collar belongs to a sheer, daisy-printed peplum tank that I got over the summer. After purchasing, I realized peplums aren't quite the right silhouette for my body, but something told me not to get rid of the tank - and now I know why! I randomly decided to throw the tank on underneath my favorite super-soft sweatshirt. I wanted to add a feminine touch to an otherwise less-than-feminine outfit. Another dose of sporty chic, no?

Friday's Fancies: Lace Love

{hat / socks / dress / booties / necklace}
This week's Friday's Fancies theme is Lace Love. Ooh la la! I am a huge fan of my own white lace dress! It's super versatile, and adds just a bit of femininity to any outfit! This little flippy number is perfect to transition from winter to spring! I like to wear my lace dress with some more menswear-inspired pieces to balance out the look! Go for a contrasting (perhaps oxblood?) pair of socks or tights, a trendy new leather baseball cap, and some wooden-heeled booties to anchor down the ensemble!

Winter Evening Layers

{dress, tights, & jacket: target | sweater: luna | hat & wedges: forever 21 | watch: marc by marc jacobs | purse: rebecca tayor}

Ahhh, the ultimate challenge for a Southern California girl: what to wear for evening when it's cold! (And seriously, it was cold. I'm talking low 30s with a chance of rain. THAT IS COLD, PEOPLE.)

Anyway, my style aesthetic came up with a very obvious answer: layers! I piled on a dress, tights, booties, sweater, jacket, and hat! I probably could have added a scarf and gloves, I swear, I was so cold!

I wore this for an evening in LA with my mom. We had dinner at Engine Co 28 for Dine LA Week (Helloooo, delicious cheeseburger...) and then headed to the Ahmanson to see Backbeat - the story of the early years of my favorite band, The Beatles! And a good (warm) time was had by all.

Friday's Fancies: Outfit Crush

{image / jacket / belt / sunglasses / dress / beanie / tights / gloves / heels}
I looooove this week's Friday's Fancies theme! Why? Because thanks to Pinterest, as well as the endless blogs I follow, have caused me to develop up about a bajillion "outfit crushes!"

Do y'all know Courtney Kerr? I fell in love with her personality last year on Most Eligible Dallas, and then I fell in love with her style, thanks to the absolutely amazing outfits she posts on What Courtney Wore! She is super sassy, in life, and in fashion! Just look at this number! What better way to winterize an adorable LWD than with tough camo and studs, and bold red accessories? So adorable!

P.S. I'm being featured today over at A Devine Life - go check it out!

Starry Starry Night

{Cardigan: Target | Blouse: Romwe | Jeans: Urban Outfitters | Loafers: Shoe Dazzle}
I hadn't been so into star prints for awhile, because they sort of reminded me of being a 7th grader who really loved Blink-182. (Keep in mind, I still love Blink-182, but I'm no longer in 7th grade - no matter how my actions may fool you.) Anyway, once I finally embraced the trend, I bought a nude-colored star print blouse from Romwe awhile ago that didn't fit at all (happy one-size-fits-all to me), so I waited around till I found another one I liked - and here is the lucky winner! I paired my starry shirt with my twinkle toes loafers and called it a day!

Versatility

{Shirt: Old Navy | Dress (as skirt): Target | Boots: Steve Madden | Necklace: ILY Couture | Watch: Nordstrom}

I had been looking for a white lace dress for awhile, and when I found this bad boy at Target for $24.99, I was (literally) sold! I'm regretting not buying it in every color! It's so classic and pretty on its own, but I've realized it's also the perfect "dress as a skirt" layering piece! Under a chambray or apparently a pink button-down, it's so versatile! I can't wait to add sweaters and tights into the mix for fall/winter!

How would you style this white lace dress?
