Delightful Denim

{shirt: j. crew factory (similar, similar) | skirt: loft (similar, similar, similar) | flats: brooks brothers | watch: marc by marc jacobs}
I'm kiiiind of obsessed with this shirt. The harder, more masculine edge of a short-sleeved chambray button down combined with the feminine touch of a Peter Pan collar? Perfection! I found that it was perfectly complimented by the most adorable bow flats, and also by my raging knee sunburn.

Pretty Preppy

{top: j. crew factory | skirt: target (similar) | flats: sam & libby for target | belt: i can't remember (similar)}
Remember when I said I can't let go of that eclectic edge when I try on preppy style? Well, I guess I figured out exactly how to let it go! I went full-on prep, from the Peter Pan collar to the bow flats, right up to my side part. (Truth be told, the side part was accidental. I just woke up that way and was too tired to change it.) I am so loving this preppy vibe!

Stripes & Bows

{sweater: forever 21 | leggings: old navy | flats: brooks brothers | necklace: spring street via nordstrom}
Confession: I kind of forgot about these beautiful, dainty flats. :( I bought them for (and wore them on) Christmas, put them back in their pretty little box, and forgot about them until I recently shelved all of my shoes! I know they're pretty neutral, but I just wasn't quite sure of what to pair them with this time around, so I went with a classic - neutral stripes!

Do you all have any ideas of how I can style these flats?

T-shirts for Work!

Last week, I showed you guys how I dressed up a graphic tee for work, and I wanted to give you all some more ideas of how to do the same for your places of business, too!
{t-shirt / skirt / blazer / heels (similar) / purse / earrings / necklace / watch}
Take this cropped graphic tee and pair it with classic office staples - a blazer, a pencil skirt, and a structured bag - and you're ready for work! Picking up on the subdued nudes and dark greens in the floral print and adding accessories in a similar color palette keep this outfit class and sassy, but not too loud for the workplace!
{t-shirt / pants / blazer / flats / purse / earrings / necklace / bracelets / watch}
If you can get away with a business casual look at work, go for these beautiful pastel pants! Pairing a girly printed tee with a traditional trouser in a fun color really pumps up the volume! Adding a bright statement bag and some classic silver jewelry ties it all together!
{t-shirt / skirt / coat (similar) / heels / necklace / watch / bracelet / purse}
I love the combination of black and white with burgundy/oxblood! Traditional black and white paired with modern statement accessories pack the punch while still maintaining a feminine feel with this pleated flowy skirt and girly coat!

What do you think? Would you wear a dressed-up tee to work?

Oxblood, Plaid, & Gems on Christmas!

{sweater: & necklaces forever 21 | jeans: urban outfitters | flats: brooks brothers | purse: rebecca taylor}
Yes, I am aware that Christmas was quite awhile ago, but I'm finally filling you in on what I wore - I'm sure you've been on pins & needles. ;)

I went classic and comfy, a twist on classic holiday red by going the oxblood route, and mixed in a touch of green with the bows on these flats. How amazing are they?! They are so cute and classic - I never thought I'd own something from Brooks Brothers, but I couldn't pass these beauties up! I hope it warms up soon so I can mix them into my wardrobe again!

By the way, you have one more day to enter my Blogaversary Giveaway! Don't forget to enter to win a beautiful geode necklace from Waffles & Honey!

Cozy Light layers

{Sweater & Watch: Nordstrom | Blouse: American Apparel | Cords: Urban Outfitters | Boots: YesStyle}

This oversized, sheer plaid blouse has been a go-to staple in my wardrobe since I got it a few years ago. I always found it so easy and versatile. I hadn't layered it under a sweater before, until this outfit! I thought the plaid plus the cozy white sweater plus the dark red cords & bow boots were all perfect for the holiday season! Cozy, light winter layers for the win!

Friday's Fancies: Black Friday

{Outfit 1: Cardigan / Tank / Skinnies / Booties (similar) / Scarf / Tote | Outfit 2: Blouse (similar) / Skirt / Clutch / Coat / Heels}
This week's Friday's Fancies theme is Black Friday! I can say, with almost 100% certainty, that I will never brave a mall, Target, or (definitely not) Wal-Mart on Black Friday. I love shopping too much to have it ruined by the exhaustion of waiting in line and the anxiety of a fight to the finish! (Fun fact: My mom went to Target at 6am about 10 years ago to buy a stereo. We still use it.)

In other news, if you've noticed from reading my blog, I don't typically wear a ton of black. I'm a color queen. However, there is something quite effortlessly chic about an all-black ensemble! I put together these outfits to show how you can dress all-black up or down! Also, as a follow-up to my gift guide, please feel free to buy me any of these items that you'd like - particularly that Pendelton tote! ;)

Friday's Fancies: Costume Prep - Margot Tenenbaum

Today I'm linking up with {long distance loving}'s Friday's Fancies! This week's theme? Costume prep! I've certainly worn a wide array of costumes in Halloweens passed, and truth be told, I'm still deciding what to dress as this year! It's always been my *secret costume dream* to spend All Hallow's Eve as the one & only Margot Tenenbaum! Really, I've been holding out on this one until I find my Richie! Still, a girl can dream (or in my case, over-plan), right? ;)

What are you dressing up as this year for Halloween?

Meow.

{T-shirt: Everlane | Vest: J. Crew | Jeans: Target | Sandals: Old Navy | Necklace: gift from Nelle Creations | Bracelets: Chloe + Isabel, Nordstrom}

This was sort of a mish-mosh outfit. I kind of forgot I had these leopard jeans, and when I remembered, I was desperate to wear them! Also, it's still super freaking hot, so I can't believe I put on pants, let alone a 2nd layer up top with that vest. But alas, I did. Is this outfit boring? I can't really decide. Can you think of some fun ways to style these leopard jeans?

Work Wear!

Did you catch my Back-to-School Style post yesterday? I promised all of you non-students (or working students, like myself!) that I'd have something here for you today - and I do! I put together some work wear looks for a few different office dress codes. Personally, I teach preschool, and my dress code goes something like whatever you don't care about getting paint, flubber, and boogers on. Still, I put together some looks for those of you in the normal workforce, and I hope you can find a look here that fits in at your workplace!

How about you? What's your go-to outfit for work?

Back-to-School Style

Though I graduated from college (Go Broncos!) over three years ago, I can still remember preparing for each first day of school like it was yesterday! Nothing brought as much anxiety excitement as the first day of school, but the real fun came with back-to-school shopping! Something about a back-to-school sale, perfecting that first day outfit, and having your clothes all laid out waiting for the bright & early alarm clock rise & shine always made me smile!

I'm starting grad school in a few weeks, and even though I'm 25 years old, it's still got me thinking about what on earth I'll wear on my fresh start first day!

I figured I'd style a few looks to share with you, too, whether you have an impending first day, or are sending a sweetie of your own off to hers!

What are you going to wear on your first day of school?

P.S. Not a student? Tune in tomorrow to see what I've got in store for you! ;)

Pinteresting Pattern Mixing: Part 1

One wonderful thing that summer has given me (besides sleeping in, staying up late, and a mild tan) is plenty of free time to waste on Pinterest! Often times, my Fashion Love board is overflowing with style that's all over the map, but lately, I've noticed a definite trend: pattern mixing! Before I started blogging, I'd have been terrified to mix gingham with zebra print, or stripes with paisley, or ikat with skulls... but now, I absolutely love pattern mixing, and my Pinspiration proves it!

Here are some ways to mix one of your closet staples - stripes! - with some other patterns. Give it a try, and soon enough, I bet you'll be a pro! (By the way, for those of you unfamiliar with Polyvore, whenever I post a set on my blog, all you have to do is click on the image, and it will take you to a page with all of the product details!)

stripes + polka dots

stripes + florals

stripes + paisley

stripes + camo + plaid

Stay tuned for more Pinteresting Pattern Mixing next week!
