Retail Camp!

So, today was Day 1 of Retail Camp! It was really fun to be a part of such an awesome event! Though today catered more to PR, marketing, and retail pros, it was still an interesting day to be a part of!

We heard from Guillermo Zalamea of HL Group on Modern Fashion PR: Traditional, Digital, and Celebrity Media Relations. He gave us a great Venn-style diiagram of the psychographic niche topics of conversation throughout the "Wide World of Fashion Blogs." (i.e. Accessories Focus, Runway Focus, Industry, Street Style, Beauty, Celeb Style, Look for Less, Mommy Bloggers, Eco-Chic, etc...) I was also incredibly stoked to see that he listed Kelly of the Glamourai as one of the new influences on branding with authority and authenticity. What an amazing compliment to one of the most influential ladies in the blogosphere!

We also heard from Ruth W. Staiman of The Fashion Office on the Socialization and Curation of Luxury, as well as Dylan Whitman on the Psychology of the Social Consumer.

My favorite part of the day was the mini-panel on Marketing Trends 2011 including Yuan Zhang of Lookville and Adam Berke of AdRoll. I was so excited that Natasha Kahn of Modcloth was a part of the panel as well. Natasha is so well-versed in the variations of online communities, and gave us great insight into Modcloth's crowdsourcing community and philosophy of "democratizing fashion." An amazing quote she shared with us? "Don't just say it - get them to say it, too." After the panel, I had the absolute pleasure of meeting her - what an honor!

In the next topic, Advance SEO: When Did Social marry Search?, we heard from a couple of speakers. We learned about Retailers and Facebook-Commerce from Tim Homuth of Redfoot Social. Also under this topic, we learned "10 Things To Know About Social Retail Search" from Aaron Kronis of Digital Vegetarian. If you'd be interested in me sharing these with you, please comment/e-mail me and let me know - I can send them your way or include them in a future post for you!

We ended the day hearing from Lyndsey Wong of Stylesight. I know a lot of us use Stylesight as a great interactive tool on our blogs. Lyndsey showed us the ins and outs of their website and taught us "How the internet is changing fashion forecasting," and how Stylesight can aide in this area.

What a great day! I am so looking forward to Blogger Camp tomorrow! Is anyone out there going to be there, too? :)
