2013 Golden Globe Awards - Fashion!

Here we go again! The 2013 awards season begins! Tonight's Golden Globes did not disappoint - I was so impressed with the celebrities this evening - there were only a handful of total failures, and a wide array of beautiful gowns!

My Favorites
Emily: Oh, true beauty. Honestly, is she ever not perfect? This muted gold is unique, but beautiful. The lace is demure, but the very tasteful cut-outs and hint of sparkle make it sassy. Her growing-out blonde top knot is classic with a youthful twist, and those hot pink statement earrings are the perfect kitschy pop of color! She's perfect! // Jennifer: Again, how often does she do anything but succeed? She looks flawless in this perfectly cut, sparkly red number, and her undone hairdo and gold earrings made her the perfect arm candy for Mr. Affleck! // Kerry: I love that Kerry is always taking risks! The blush color looks beautiful on her, and I am in love with the tasteful sheer exposure and amazing bead work! She is so modern chic! // Kristen: There were a ton of cut-outs tonight, and this is an example of a cut-out done right! The cut of the dress and the perfectly placed cut-out are perfect for Kristen's body. Plus, was she so stinking funny presenting with Will Ferrell. I mean, she's just hilarious!

The Good
Nicole: She looks great, right? I like her short haircut, and surprisingly, the black against her always fair skin doesn't look too drastic! I love that she took a risk here, with the partially exposed midriff and cool stud detailing. I'll have what she's having! // Julia: Julia has looked fabulous at awards shows since her Seinfeld days! This dress was understated, but beautiful, age appropriate, and she looked lovely! // Helen: Work it, lady! Wish I may, wish I might, have this wish I wish tonight: If I can look this good when I'm 67, I will give major thanks! Yowza! Helen always looks tasteful and age appropriate, but with a charming twist! // Kristen: She's just one of my favorite people! She's a few months pregnant, and chose the perfect outfit! This modest neckline and cap sleeve are so quaint when paired with this delicate lavender and beautiful beading! I love her! // Jessica Alba: Come onnnn, people. She's just absolutely STUNNING! The color, the fit, her hair, makeup, and feather clutch are just perfect! // Michelle: I love this dress for its uniqueness! It's definitely not something you see often, and not something that everyone could pull off! The gold detailing is outstanding, and she looks amazing in it!

The Bad
Halle: I found Halle's outfit the most offensive. WHAT IS HAPPENING? Multiple prints, multiple seams, one boob hanging out, a slit, AND a midriff cut-out? I don't care how great her body is, I don't need to see this much of it at a BLACK TIE EVENT. Also, the leg thing is over. Angelina Jolie ruined that for all of womankind already last year. Sorry, girl. I like her hair, though? Meh. // Lucy: I'm not completely offended by this. I like the print. I even like the cut. I guess I don't like them together. Also, Lucy is swimming in this! Too much dress for such a petite woman. Plus, the fishtail does not match this garden tea party dress on crack... // Taylor: WTF?!

Bad Hair
Amy: I just wanted to give her a bobby pin. This was really, really bad. It bothered me the entire show. Endlessly. It's bothering me right now. Ugh. // Hayden: Obviously, Hayden is beautiful no matter what. She's stunning. However, this hair is not good. This is a soccer mom blow-out. No no no. Save the cheerleader! // Jennifer: I hate when people wear their hair like this. All loose on one side and slicked back on the other. Say it with me people: "two-thousand-thirteen."

The One and Only
Honestly, most of the men (Robert Downey, Jr. very seriously excluded) looked great. Everyone actually kind of looked the same, plus I couldn't find pictures of any of the other gentlemen I noted as looking smashing - i.e. Bill Clinton, Liev Schreiber, Jason Bateman, Aaron Paul... However, I only have 2 words for you, and they're the only 2 words anyone ever needs to know: Leonardo DiCaprio.

What do you all think? Do you agree/disagree? Who were your favorites this year? Who did I leave out?

  3. I got on the internet right now for this post, and this post only. I loved Emily Blunts dress, SO MUCH. I'm glad you also thought Lucy Lu's was insane. I thought she was completing in MIss America. But honestly, besides a few horribles, it seemed as though everyone was so LOVELY.

  4. Omg I have to say I was also dyimg for Catherine Zeta-Jones amd Selma Hyek. OMG and that teal dress that Tina Fey started in. And I could not agree more about Leo. Swoon. And it looks like he's slimmed down a bit. Working it.

  5. Jessica Alba looks gorgeous in that color. You are right on with the two works: Leonardo DiCaprio! He is one dapper man :) Heather

  6. I agree with pretty much all of this. My best were Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson, but I also loved Kerry Washington and Megan Fox (and a few others I'm forgetting). J Lo looked trampy as usual :P
