Fashion Inspired By Kelsey's Six-Item Theory!

{V-neck: H&M | Cardigan: Forever 21 | Vest: J. Crew | Skirt: American Apparel | Boots: Journey's | Necklace: Gift | Watch: Nordstrom}

Have you all read Kelsey's Six-Item Theory? If not, you must! In the same ways that Kendi's 30 for 30 Remix changed the way I dress, so did Kelsey's theory!

On this day, I woke up thinking: I'm cold, but I know it's going to be in the high '70s today, and all I want to do is throw on sweatpants, curl up in a ball, and go back to sleep. But thanks to my (until now) secret promise to myself to not look like a slob this year, I fought through that feeling and went to my wardrobe.

First I picked out a simple v-neck sweater (1). Then, for some reason, I picked out a skirt (2)! Have y'all noticed that I hardly ever wear skirts? Dresses on occasion (and mostly for specific events), but rarely skirts at all. I then chose my favorite denim vest (3), but felt the look getting too monochromatic. So I threw on my bright orange cardigan (4)! Next, after a lot of boot contemplation, I chose this pair (5) with Native American embroidery that basically answers the question, "if I could be a boot, what would I be?" Finally, I added this string of beads (6) my friend Tatiana gave me from Brazil for my 18th birthday, and my outfit was complete!

I wouldn't say that this outfit exactly screams "Dani!" but I definitely think that Kelsey's theory is perfect for making your outfit more fun, creative, and interesting! Plus, it definitely helps to look at your wardrobe in new and more innovative ways! I need to remember to stop saying "I have nothing to wear!" and remember that layering some pieces or adding an unexpected accessory can really pump up the volume!

I'm definitely going to try to keep up The Six-Item Theory, or at least remember to keep my outfits more innovative and remember to remix my wardrobe!
