Friday's Fancies: Red & Pink

{top (similar) / pants / heels (similar) / clutch / earrings / bracelet / watch}
In honor of the day of lovey-dovey goodness, this week's Friday's Fancies theme is red & pink! I know red & pink can feel like a cliche combination, especially around Valentine's Day, but if you do it right, it can look chic! By adding classic gold jewelry, trendy statement pieces (like this studded peplum top & these fun ankle strap wedges), plus a quirky clutch, you can pump up the volume of this classic heart day combination!

Neon Boneyard (& the worst sweater I've ever purchased.)

{sweater & jeans: forever 21 | blouse: urban outfitters | boots: steve madden | sunglasses: juicy couture}

It was pretty chilly when we went to Vegas, so our usual allotment of endless hours roaming the strip were null & void. To fill the usual time slot, we opted to visit the Neon Museum's Neon Boneyard! SO COOL! We were definitely not disappointed! We roamed the "boneyard" with our extremely knowledgeable tour guide, and checked out all of the old, retired, amazing neon signs that used to grace the strip!

If you're ever in Vegas, this place is a must-see!

So, the inner sorority girl in me theme dressed for this day. Worst. Mistake. Ever. This is the worst sweater I've ever purchased. You might be saying to yourself, why whatever do you mean, Dani? The ampersand is your favorite punctuation mark, how could it be bad? You wore text to a museum based on the use of text, how could that be bad? Your outfit is totally cute, what could be bad?

Well, let me tell you what could be bad: THIS SWEATER IS SO FUZZY I COULD DIE. And I don't mean that in a good, Despicable Me way. I mean this is a the fuzz from this sweater got all over every single thing I got within 10 feet of way. All over my pants. And my purse. And my jacket. And the car. And. Everything. Made me crazy. And miserable. Never wearing it again. Maybe I should burn it.

It really is a shame, too, because I love an ampersand.

Peplum + Pink

{shirt: asos | pants: forever 21 | oxfords: volatile via zappos | necklace: very jane | watch: nordstrom}

If I haven't stressed it enough lately, I've been throwing my outfits together the morning-of almost every day! I have been fashion-planning-challenged for a few weeks now - I need to step out of it! Nevertheless, this outfit worked out pretty perfectly! This peplum top makes me hesitant, because I'm unsure if peplums agree with my figure, but according to this little photo sesh, at least this one works! Pairing the bright pink pants with the minty necklace required a staple pair of oxfords, and I anchored it all down with the classic black top!

 P.S. There are still a few days left to enter my blogaversary giveaway for your chance to win a beautiful geode necklace! Check it out!

Candy Colors

{Tank & Pants: Forever 21 | Sandals: ShoeDazzle | Watch: Nordstrom}

I wore this Sunday night to see Gavin DeGraw & Colbie Caillat at the Greek! It was sickeningly hot all day and I can't even believe I was able to put pants on. I didn't even need to bring a sweater to the venue because it ended up being so lovely out - once the sun set! I went with this looooud look because it feels nice and summery to me! I threw on the HOT pink pants and thought, What would go best with these? Oh I know, BRIGHT yellow stripes!

More importantly, Gavin was aaaamazing! I've never seen him live before, but I can't wait to see him again! He played a lot of songs off of his new album, Sweeter, which I love! He is such a great performer, so engaging, and incredibly charming! What a great night!

Celeb Style - My Way: Gwen Stefani

{Gwen Photo via Pinterest}

{Tank: American Apparel | Jeans: Forever 21 | Boots: Steve Madden | Necklace & Watch: Nordstrom | Cuff: Luna | Ring: Vintage (Aunt's)}

FYI: I have what I'd like to call a healthy obsession with Gwen Stefani. When I was 12, I basically had an entire wall dedicate to all things Gwen/No Doubt related. It's really a wonder I never dyed my hair a non-human color, wore decorative bindis, or talked myself into adult braces. When I saw this photo of Gwen on Pinterest, I knew I had to give it a try immediately! Not only does she look flawless in this (as usual), but it's a super easy look pull off on your own, in "real life!" Now, I just have 1 important question: Why isn't my hair platinum blonde...?

Here are some more easy variations on colored denim I put together that you can try yourself!

Celeb Style - My Way: January Jones

Sweater: Old Navy | Tee: StyleMint | Pants: Forever 21 | Sandals: ShoeDazzle}
I'll have it be known that the better part of my Spring Break was spent watching the first 2 seasons of Mad Men on DVD. I know I'm a little late to the game on the whole Mad Men phenomenon, but whoah! I'm slightly obsessed with all of its fictional glory! That being said, I am now also slightly obsessed with the reality of it, that being the show's actors. (Except Elizabeth Moss. I can't go there.) Anyway, I always thought January Jones was a little loopy before watching. Now I think she's super loopy, but I kind of dig her style, so I decided to give this look the good old copy-cat try!

I couldn't bear to wear boots on this 90-degree day, but I went with a similar color palette in the shoes. Despite feeling a bit like a Valentine, I thought the simplicity of this outfit was cute and comfy! I wore it to go see American Idiot, the musical inspired by Green Day's album, at the Ahmanson in LA. And a mad green good time was had by all.

"Hi, Barbie."

{Top & Pants: Forever 21 | Flats: Tory Burch | Bracelets: Derng}
So, the head of maintenance in the building that I work at calls me Barbie. It began a few years ago, and hasn't quit. Every day, sometimes multiple times a day, he says "Hi, Barbie!" as I walk by. As a lifelong Barbie fanatic, I enjoy this nickname. It seemed especially fitting while wearing this outfit, with the hot pink pants, large-scale polka dots, and freshly curled blonde 'do walking down the hallway with baking trays in both hands. Now, the real question is, does he know my real name?

More fringe + Little facts!

{Sweater & Scarf: Luna | Jeans: American Apparel | Flats: Soda via Century 21 | Watch: Nordstrom | Earrings: Target}

Oh, good! I've found a way to extend my daily need for fringe. I have to admit, I'm a little jealous that someone is actually paid to shred up a tube of fabric, but hey, I went ahead and bought it, so I guess I'm feeding into it. When I woke up to a rainstorm, I had to pump some light into my life with these bubblegum pink jeans and bright orange earrings. Then I had to spend my day stuck inside with 3-year-olds. It's like watching animals in an unnatural habitat. Poor kids need fresh air.

Wednesdays just got a little more fun - because now I get to participate in Rebecca's Little Facts every week! For more info, check out her blog, Rebecca with an R, and link up to participate!

Favorite words: Scone and trousers.

Current worry: My deviated septum.

Food: I have a strong distaste for cilantro, bleu cheese, curry, and peanut sauce.

Now that's more like it! (21/30)

{Top: Lauren Conrad for Kohl's | Jeans: American Apparel | Heels: Kohl's | Belt: Urban Outfitters | Necklace: F21}
After some shopping and much-needed air conditioning at the Fashion Show Mall, I felt much more like myself! Therefore, I got spruced up and ready to go out to see a comedy show!

I must say, I'm kind of in love with this outfit. I'd been wanting to check out LC's line at Kohl's for awhile, but never got around to it, until someone gave me a Kohl's gift card for my birthday! A few months later, I got off my lazy behind and headed over to Kohl's, and was pleasantly surprised!

I must add this word to the wise: what looks absolutely adorable on the outside, may feel like medieval torture on the inside. (A strapless bra, high-rise pants, and belted waist feel like medieval torture.) Just a little tip.
