Polka Dots + Purple Pants

{blazer: alloy (similar) | top: foreign exchange (similar) | pants: old navy (similar) | flats: breckelles via amazon | necklace: popbasic (similar)}
This outfit is a little odd to me, as it is kind of a business-casual combo. The lavender jeans don't exactly scream "professional," but paired with this structured blazer and ladylike flats, they seem to work for the office! (Or in my case, the classroom!) It was kind of a double monochromatic look, split at the hips. Pastels below the waist, navy up top. All-in-all, this look is a little bipolar. Oh well... we all have to experiment with our fashion sometimes!

Friday's Fancies: Pretty in Pastels

{sweater / flats / jeans / necklace / purse}
This week's Friday's Fancies theme is pastels! I used to loathe pastels, but as I've grown up, I've grown from viewing them as little girl/babyish into thinking of them as simply delicate and feminine. By pairing lovely pastels (lavender, baby pink, & mellow yellow) with a deeper anchor piece (like these oxblood jeans!) and a striking accessory (like this tough, Aztec-inspired pendant), and you're good to go, in a grown-up way!

How do you feel about pastels?

Lavender, Oxblood, & Camo On a Birthday!

{blouse & tank: nordstrom | pants: tripp nyc | boots: shoemint}
Well, like I mentioned before, my birthday was on a Tuesday this year, so I didn't get to celebrate much on the actual day. I started my day at work (we did have a milk & cookies party), and ended it in class. Woooo-hoooo. Nevertheless, I wanted to feel pretty on my special day, so I wore the prettiest shade of lavender, and pumped it up with some heeled boots. I never wear heels at work, but these were low enough that I could still play with all the kids comfortable, but they gave me just that little extra kick to feel a tiny bit like a birthday princess! ;)
