Hi everyone! I'm Elle from Living in Color style! I am so honored and excited that Dani has decided to feature me on her blog! I loved learning about other bloggers on her previous features, so it's exciting to be in the spotlight now! I had a blast answering these questions, and I hope they help you learn a little more about me!
3 words to describe your personal style?
Glamour. Eclectic. Classic
Who are your celebrity style icons?
I adore Audrey Hepburn. The big hats, long gloves, and up-dos are something I feel like our generation sort of missed out on. However, I was able to have my own little flash to the past! I recently had my bridal shower, and my family and friends used a Breakfast At Tiffany's theme. However, I'm inspired by Jenna Lyons for her quirkiness, Olivia Palermo for her classiness, and Ashley Olsen for her stylish simplicity.
What would you consider the 5 essential items to a fashionable wardrobe?
That's a tough one, because I think it depends on the season. But for Spring, we'll say: colored denim, a khaki trench, a denim chambray, neutral toned wedges, and a nautical striped tee.
As a lover of all things colorful, how would you style the classic LBD to reflect your personal style?
You know, I'm a believer that the perfect pair of shoes will do the trick with a little black dress! My Zara color block basic sandals dressed up this LBD pretty fabulously :)
As a student/young professional, how do you find a balance between fashion and comfort/professionalism/appropriateness?
Honestly, it helps to keep yourself aware of the dress code in your professional life. Next year, I'll be a teacher full-time, and I plan on wearing a lot of fun-colored J.Crew pencil skirts mixed with blazers and blouses of all patterns and shapes. As for now, I work at a preschool and we have a specific required uniform provided by the school, however, comfortable shoes are a must for me. Most of the time, it's sandals.
How has growing up in Orange County influenced your style? How did moving out of California change the way you dress?
Growing up in OC, I wore a lot of sundresses, with my swimsuit underneath in the summer, and lived in a tank top and shorts most of the time. I don't think I really developed my personal style until a few years ago, however because of my roots, I still gravitate towards girly dresses.
Moving out of state has made me realize that I can dress for seasons. In really low temperatures it's essential to make sure you're dressed appropriately. I feel like I've added a fun, New York chic element to my personal style; it really adds a cool dynamic to an outfit when you're all layered up.
Can you name a childhood moment of you and clothing?
I've always been a lover of clothes- You could say it was engrained in me from the very beginning. But a childhood moment of me and clothing has me thinking back to this picture. Throwing a tantrum on the porch in my little black dress.
I feel most myself when I'm wearing:
A dress of any size, shape, or form. I adore dresses, not only because of their versatility with seasons, but because you can add statement pieces or accessories to accentuate the outfit. I love adding jewelry, belts, scarves or tights, and a fun jacket or sweater to the mix.
Thanks again, Dani, for featuring me on your blog! You're such a great girl, and have become one of my favorite blogger friends! Well, if you'd like, stop by and say hello, everyone! While you're there, check out my feature of The Daily Dani! xo, elle.
