Peplum + Pink

{shirt: asos | pants: forever 21 | oxfords: volatile via zappos | necklace: very jane | watch: nordstrom}

If I haven't stressed it enough lately, I've been throwing my outfits together the morning-of almost every day! I have been fashion-planning-challenged for a few weeks now - I need to step out of it! Nevertheless, this outfit worked out pretty perfectly! This peplum top makes me hesitant, because I'm unsure if peplums agree with my figure, but according to this little photo sesh, at least this one works! Pairing the bright pink pants with the minty necklace required a staple pair of oxfords, and I anchored it all down with the classic black top!

 P.S. There are still a few days left to enter my blogaversary giveaway for your chance to win a beautiful geode necklace! Check it out!

Carly Simon?

{blouse: urban outfitters | jeans: just fab | oxfords: volatile via zappos | hat: nasty gal}
When I threw this ensemble together bright and early before work, I never dreamed I'd get so many compliments on it. Turns out, it evoked visions of the past from nearly every one of my coworkers. I got a lot of "hippie chick" or "70s" comments. My favorite was my coworker Kelly's comparisons to Carly Simon.

I guess if my mouth doubled in size and I forgot to wear a bra, I'd agree.

Note to self: wear this outfit with flares!

Always Leopard. Leopard Always.

{Cardigan: Old Navy | Blouse: Modcloth | Jeans: Forever 21 | Oxfords: Volatile via Zappos | Bracelet: Nordstrom | Watch: Shock Boutique}
I've said it before and I'll say it again: leopard goes with everything. It is the new neutral. It is my favorite neutral, and this is quickly becoming my favorite cardigan. I gave you a little double dose on animal print here. I love an animal print. [It's late, and I'm feeling repetitive. Leopard. Animal print.]

P.S. No one need comment on my posture in these photos. Just go with it. I'm a rag doll.

Friday's Fancies: Costume Prep - Margot Tenenbaum

Today I'm linking up with {long distance loving}'s Friday's Fancies! This week's theme? Costume prep! I've certainly worn a wide array of costumes in Halloweens passed, and truth be told, I'm still deciding what to dress as this year! It's always been my *secret costume dream* to spend All Hallow's Eve as the one & only Margot Tenenbaum! Really, I've been holding out on this one until I find my Richie! Still, a girl can dream (or in my case, over-plan), right? ;)

What are you dressing up as this year for Halloween?

Fall Trends

I've been seeing a lot of bloggers post about fall trends, and to tell you the truth, I've been asking what's the big deal? about a lot of them... Until I realized the best part about them: I already own them all! A lot a the major fall trends are really just the major emergence of little details we've all been subtly mixing into our outfits over the past year! And with that, I bring you... Oxblood, Military, & Leather...

Oxblood, otherwise known as burgundy or maroon if you aren't super creepy, is probably the "fall-iest" of the fall trends. Dark, rich colors definitely evoke a sense of autumn, and it can basically be worn as a neutral! It goes really well with all textures and patterns, as well as with lots of other shades - I especially like the pop of a pastel or or rich jewel tone against this deep fall shade!

The Military look has been creeping its way back into fashion after being expelled for bad behavior in the 90s. Luckily, it's back with a far more stylish vengeance! From blouses to skinny cargos to awesome fitted utility jackets with feminine details, the military look is the ultimate neutral! It's also the perfect balance to ultra-feminine styles. By the way, why not throw a bit of camo print into your look while you're at it? Your inner 12-year-old will thank you. Or, at least, my inner 12-year-old will thank you.

Leather
is, yet another, awesome cold-weather neutral. Leather can be so versatile and found in so many different colors, styles, pieces, and prices! You can be daring and go leather from head to toe or throw on a major statement piece, or you can keep it simple and just go with a simple accessory! Either way, mix leather with any other fabric, print, or color, and you've instantly upped your level of bad-ass-ocity.

Leather

So, go out and get going on incorporating these fall trends into your look! Before you head to the mall, check your closet! Something tells me you've accumulated some form of Oxblood, Military, & Leather somewhere along the way!

Girly/Boy-y

{Top, Pants, Watch: Nordstrom | Oxfords: Volatile via Zappos | Necklace & Stud Bangle: Luna | Tortoise bracelet: J. Crew | Ring: Vintage}

I love the juxtaposition of menswear details with super feminine ones. Aka menswear oxfords, cargo pants, and an oversized watch with a light knit and frilly sheer blouse. Oh, and a pink geode necklace. But who doesn't love a geode?

Lace + Oxfords Forever

{Dress: Target | Oxfords: Volatile via Zappos | Earrings: BaubleBar | Cuff: Luna | Watch: Urban Outfitters}
My mom laughed at me the other day for saying, "I've been wanting these forever!" because I kind of say it all the time. Seriously though, I've been looking for the perfect (affordable) brown oxfords forever. I spotted Chelsea's perfect pair last year just after they sold out at Targets everywhere, and have been on the hunt ever since! When I found this pair on Zappos, I hopped at the chance to get them!

I've also been looking for an affordable white lace dress forever and I could hardly believe my eyes when I spotted this little number at Target, of all places, for $24.99! What a steal! I should have gotten it in every color... Come to think of it, I can't stop thinking about the red version...

I wore this last night to go see Memphis with my mom at the Pantages. If this touring company comes to your area, you MUST see it - it's such an amazing and uplifting show with incredibly talented actors and fantastic music!
