Delightful Denim

{shirt: j. crew factory (similar, similar) | skirt: loft (similar, similar, similar) | flats: brooks brothers | watch: marc by marc jacobs}
I'm kiiiind of obsessed with this shirt. The harder, more masculine edge of a short-sleeved chambray button down combined with the feminine touch of a Peter Pan collar? Perfection! I found that it was perfectly complimented by the most adorable bow flats, and also by my raging knee sunburn.

Friday's Fancies: Transition Time

{tank (similar) (similar) / necklace / sandals / cutoffs (similar) (similar) / scarf / sweater (similar) (similar) / watch / tights / booties (similar) (similar)}
I will keep pretending that Fall is creeping up on us, even though it is still a good 100 degrees outside! Yipes! Either way, somehow someway, the weather is (or will be!) getting cooler, and it's time to transition your wardrobe from summer to fall! I wanted to give you all an idea of how you could take your cutoffs into colder weather! While you've been wearing them with your sandals and tanks for summer, add a pair of tights and some cold-weather accessories like a scarf and booties to a cozy sweater, and you can take those jean shorts right on into winter!

Seersucker on Stripes on Nautical for Back to School Night

{dress: forever 21 (similar) (similar) | loafers: love culture (similar) | belt: american apparel | cardigan: old navy | necklace: baublebar | watch: marc by marc jacobs}

So, I'm super into this outfit. I randomly decided to pair these seersucker stripes with the thicker striped loafers, and added the rope belt because I thought it put it right over the edge into nautical. And I LOVED it.

I am kind of shocked by how impressed I was looking at these photos haha. Honesty time: I'm a bit self-deprecating much of the time, so it's rare that I look at myself in the mirror or in a photo and am super thrilled by what I see. I'm well aware that for every body type, there are certain silhouettes of clothing that are more flattering than others, and oftentimes, I choose to ignore that fact. I have what I suppose could be referred to as an "hourglass" figure (translation: large chest and equally as large hips...), which, I have to admit, seems a lot better on Scarlett Johanssen than it does on my own body. However, there was something A+ about this dress. I think this cinched waist is super flattering to my figure! Maybe it's time to get serious about rethinking my oversized tees! ;)

Teacher Talk

{cardigan: old navy | top: urban outfitters (similar) (similar) | pants: forever 21 (similar) | sandals: urban outfitters | watch: marc by marc jacobs | bracelet: styleloveliving}
I wore this outfit to my student teaching orientation Saturday! I found out that my favorite teacher will be teaching my seminar, met my site supervisor, and met some fellow student teachers in my district/area. I start student teaching TODAY - I can't believe it! I will be spending my first assignment, 9 weeks, in 1st grade, learning the ropes and eventually teaching the class! I am so excited to meet all the kiddos, facilitate their learning, and (let's be honest) get to wear some cute teacher clothes!

Popbasic Salut!

{tee, necklace, clutch: popbasic | skirt: old navy (similar) | boots: sam edelman | watch: marc by marc jacobs (gold version) | ring: vintage (similar)}
A couple weeks ago, I shared my gorgeous Popbasic emerald green maxi skirt with you all! So, naturally, I had to show you how fabulous the most recent Popbasic collection is! Pieces don't come much more classic than these! A striped tee, a basic gold link necklace, and the most perfect, roomy leather clutch. I have already worn this tee twice since I got it, and I use this clutch on an almost daily basis now that I'm on summer break and haven't had to tote around books and notebooks and my lunch and laptop and other school/work-related accoutrements!

I can't wait to see what Popbasic's next collection has in store!

Maps. They don't love you like I love you.

{shirt: ann taylor (similar) | jeans: madewell (sold out - similar) | sandals: gap (borrowed - similar) | watch: marc by marc jacobs | bracelet: c wonder (gift - similar) | necklace: vintage (aunt's) (similar) (similar)}
Did you all know I absolutely love maps? I don't know what it is, but something about a beautiful map just resonates with me! Whether it be my map watch, my state charm necklace, or my entire Pinterest board dedicated to all things map-related, I just love 'em! So, when I saw these pants, I just about jumped for joy! Then, when I saw they were 50% off, I almost fainted! For half price (at Madewell?!) I snagged these bad boys and didn't look back! I can't wait to continue to showcase these babies!

P.S. Yay to my hair for finally being long enough to go up into a teeny-tiny topknot!

Gold Toms & My 4-Year-Old Best Friend

{top: luna | jeans: old navy | shoes: toms | necklace: ily couture}
So, this outfit, though simple, has a bit of a backstory. I hadn't worn any of my Toms in ages, but the kids at my work wear them constantly. When my 4-year-olds bestie Skylar (I've known her since she was barely 2 and her sister Sydney was in my class) came to school wearing some pink sparkly Toms, we got to chatting about our shoe collections. When we realized we both had a gold pair, we decided to start planning to match the next day. Though we both had our entire clothing arsenals memorized, it took some planning, but we finally decided on jeans and black tops.

Ta-da! If only I had a Minnie Mouse shirt, life would be perfect. ;)
