Versatility

{Shirt: Old Navy | Dress (as skirt): Target | Boots: Steve Madden | Necklace: ILY Couture | Watch: Nordstrom}

I had been looking for a white lace dress for awhile, and when I found this bad boy at Target for $24.99, I was (literally) sold! I'm regretting not buying it in every color! It's so classic and pretty on its own, but I've realized it's also the perfect "dress as a skirt" layering piece! Under a chambray or apparently a pink button-down, it's so versatile! I can't wait to add sweaters and tights into the mix for fall/winter!

How would you style this white lace dress?

Blogger Feature: Brooke of Belts and Bangles

When Brooke from Belts and Bangles reached out to me about writing a post for you all, I was so excited! She definitely knows her way around the trends! Here are some tips she has for you on fall fashion!

Using Colors and Accessories to Make Old Outfits New Again

The leaves are changing, weather is getting cooler and school is back in session. It's time to bring out the long sleeves, boots, and earthy colors. What better way to celebrate this change of season by getting out and sprucing up your fall wardrobe?

Few people want to buy a completely new wardrobe. Instead, most are looking for a few pieces of clothing and accessories to help make their old outfits look new and fashionable year-round. Yet confusion abounds about the colors and items that will be most useful and on-trend. This season there are a variety of colors to choose from to help complement and accessorize your outfits. Here are some colors and tips to get you started.

 Forest Green
This stunning earth tone can be worn in a variety of ways. Sweaters, dresses, blazers, shoes, and bags all seem to be popular this season. What makes forest green especially fun for fashionistas is how easy it is to accessorize! Graceful black scarves can dress up the outfit easily. Nails can be painted colors such as black, gold or red to tie the whole look together. One forest green sweater can create several fashionable outfits. If you only have enough money to invest in one new article of clothing this fall, a forest green sweater or top should definitely be high on the list.

Wine Colors
These deep, beautiful colors really fit with the autumn sense of calm and changing seasons. A long, wine-colored skirt looks elegant even with the simplest tops. A deep red turtleneck can go with a pair of jeans or black pants. Scarves of this color can be used to bring color into black tops or dresses. Wine also matches very nicely with gold. Consider accenting your wine colored outfit with elegant gold bracelets. It's a simple way to look classy, elegant and ready for dinner or for school!

Deep Purple
Purples are another excellent choice for the cooler weather. Their dark, majestic quality creates an aura of style. Like wine colors, deep purple looks great as a top with skirts or jeans, as dresses, scarves, skirts and just about any other article of clothing. It can be accented with accessories such as teal nail polish, deep red necklaces or even brown scarves tossed casually around the neck. One of my favorite accessories is a brown or tan handbag. Such an accessory will not only serve the practical use of holding your makeup, cell phone and other goodies; it's also a fabulous way to tie your outfits together.

As you head out the door to jazz up your fall style, keep in mind that you want to find items that can be used to create more than one outfit. All these colors and accessories should match a multitude of options and keep you looking spectacular throughout the season. Head out today and try a few on. You never know the treasure you may find!

Sunday Song: Hunter Hayes

I saw Carrie Underwood a few weeks ago, and Hunter Hayes opened up for her. (Did you guys know I liked country?) Truth be told, we were too busy enjoying delicious burgers down the street to catch more than 1 song from Hunter Hayes, but now that I've heard this song, I'm a little bummed that we missed him! (He did come out for a little duet with Carrie a bit later, though.)

I think this song is so infectious, and I really love it! I can't get it out of my head! Plus, he's adorable. He's 21, but he looks about 16, which equals out to just my type. (How creepy was that sentence?)

Friday's Fancies: Bonfire Beauties

{Cardigan / Booties / Jeans / Shirt / Watch / Bracelet / Ring / Scarf}
This week's Friday's Fancies theme is Bonfire Beauties! I don't know what it's like in other parts of the country, but here in Southern California, a bonfire means a late night at the beach, hot dogs and s'mores, and bundled up layers! It's just finally getting chilly enough here in So Cal to start wearing layered looks, knits, booties, and scarves! I wish I had every piece of this outfit, because I'd be wearing it today! Time to start a holiday wish list!

Always Leopard. Leopard Always.

{Cardigan: Old Navy | Blouse: Modcloth | Jeans: Forever 21 | Oxfords: Volatile via Zappos | Bracelet: Nordstrom | Watch: Shock Boutique}
I've said it before and I'll say it again: leopard goes with everything. It is the new neutral. It is my favorite neutral, and this is quickly becoming my favorite cardigan. I gave you a little double dose on animal print here. I love an animal print. [It's late, and I'm feeling repetitive. Leopard. Animal print.]

P.S. No one need comment on my posture in these photos. Just go with it. I'm a rag doll.

Friday's Fancies: Sweater Season

{Outfit 1: Leopard bag / Red sweater / Scarf / White jeans / Watch / Earrings / Moccasins // Outfit 2: White sweater / Beanie / Bangles / Clutch / Leather leggings / Lace booties}

I have to admit, I was pretty excited when I saw that this week's Friday's Fancies theme was "Sweater Season!" If you follow my blog (or Twitter or Instagram) in even the slightest way, you know that we have been having an extended summer here in Southern California, and frankly, I'm sick of it! I seriously can't wait to be wearing cozy sweaters, scarves, and boots! This Friday's Fancies theme gave me a chance to dream about the (hopefully!) upcoming chillier months!

Sugar & Spice

{Cardigan: Old Navy | Shirt: Chaser LA | Jeans: JustFab | Moccasins: Minnetonka | Necklace: Forever 21 | Watch: Nordstrom}
What better way to sweeten up a vintage-inspired band tee than to add a sweet little leopard cardigan and a multi-strand pearl necklace?
